The Witching Month Vibe: Welcome October!

From the heaviness of September with the two eclipses, into October we glide and a season filled with communication, relationships, dreams and power.

When Mercury enters Scorpio on October 6, there’s a strong sense of freedom in your communications that’s ignited even more by a Full Moon in Aries. You feel unmuzzled and able to speak and write from a well deep within. Embrace the lure of depth in your communications, but give yourself permission to hold things close to the vest. Remember, Full Moons shine light on areas that are hidden, so think before you speak, or you might find yourself spilling the tea on secrets better left unsaid. 

Sip a pumpkin-spiced latte and enjoy a little romantic interlude with your significant other when Venus strolls into Libra on the seventh. This is a wonderful time for relationships of all types, whether it’s working together on a project, laughing with friends or (deep breath) stepping out of your comfort zone to find that someone special.

Make sure you practice grounding daily to keep your feet securely on the Earth!

After a five-month retrograde, planet Pluto stations direct in Aquarius on the thirteenth, ramping up the power dynamics again—only this time, watch them shift. Pay close attention to situations with those in authority, as Pluto pushes its natural transformative energies (think change) everywhere.

Draw in a breath of fresh autumn air on the twenty-first, and let the openness fill you completely, as the New Moon in Libra invites harmony and beauty. Call that friend you haven’t heard from in a while or strike up a conversation with someone you’ve wanted to meet. Then, just walk in Mother Nature’s arms and attune to her beauty, as she softens and yields to the coming winter.

From the twenty-second through the end of the month, you’ll feel your energy tighten or blur a bit. First, the shadow period of Mercury retrograde gives us a taste of what’s in store when Mercury pedals backward on the ninth of November. As with all Mercury retrogrades, that energy can be positive or challenging, so pay attention to what will be in store for you. Also on the twenty-second, Neptune, the planet of dreams, intuition and deception floats back into Pisces, fueling your fantasies and lifting you into the ethers. (Make sure you practice grounding daily to keep your feet securely on the Earth!) And, on this same day, we welcome the intuitive, secretive, transformative and intense season of Scorpio that encourages you to play detective with your shadow side and to always go deeper.

The month rounds out with Mercury jumping into Sagittarius and trying to find a clear- cut path to communicating amid Sag’s curious, adventurous, but often unfocused energy. Watch out for the “oopses” when you chat with others, as Mercury-Sag energy can shoot words like arrows without thinking beforehand.

October is a magical month, and even with a few bumps, it promises to kiss us with a little cool and move us to transform. Open your arms to October and enjoy!
