Do I Listen or Run? Discerning if it’s Intuition or Anxiety

It’s happening again. That little nudge from the belly. That feeling impelling you to do something. That sense of clarity. But is it real? Can it truly be trusted?

For many people, intuition and anxiety embody themselves in the solar plexus or heart chakras, which can make it very difficult to discern if you’re fearful or being whispered to by Spirit or your higher self.

The good news is there are actually differences that you can tune into to make sure you get all the messages from your intuition and understand when you’re anxious about something.

1.    Intuition comes with calm and clarity. It may sneak in during meditation or quiet time sipping coffee early in the morning. And its message seems fresh and clear. It makes sense. Anxiety, on the other hand, arrives with panic and confusion. Your body squirms, your mind races and your heartbeat accelerates. It’s an unpleasant feeling.

2.    A sense of peace and understanding follow intuition. You may not like the information your intuition brings, but you feel grounded. Anxiety exhausts you, draining your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual resources, and it doesn’t dissipate. It keeps rising up within you.

3.    Intuition is quick and clear when it comes to you, whereas anxiety lingers and is fed by fear. The more you worry or focus on it, the more it grows, and the more difficult it becomes to find peace.

Bottom line: If the info you’re receiving feels clear and compelling, there’s a good chance your intuition is calling. So, take a minute and listen. You’ll be glad you did.
