During October, our ancestors ventured into the wild to hunt and stock up for the winter guided by the brilliant light of the Full Moon known as the Hunter’s Moon. As the first of three consecutive supermoons—a moon that orbits very close to the Earth—the Hunter’s Moon radiates bigger and brighter, bathing the world in a silvery glow.
But this Full Moon on October 6, which should be beautiful for all who see it, is also the Harvest Moon, named because it’s time to harvest the crops from summer. The Harvest Moon is the first full moon in the Northern Hemisphere following the autumn equinox, so this particularly powerful moon carries three different energies as it graces the night sky: Hunter’s Moon, supermoon and Harvest Moon energy.
The fiery sign of Aries fuels this month’s Full Moon, promising to pack its energy into partnerships, decision making, communication and more. Its energy is seriously focused on finalizing transitions—bringing things to a close that you need to move on from. Embrace the change.
Since the Sun is currently basking in the harmony-focused sign of Libra, and Mars (Aries’ ruling planet) and Mercury have skated into Scorpio, expect some feelings to demand your attention over the next few days along with some secret communication.
Here's what your sign can expect:
Aries: The full moon glows up your sign and pushes you to really take a deep dive into yourself. Your self-identity is being lit up for you and others to see. Feelings may bubble to the surface, and while letting yourself feel the emotion so you can release it is powerful, what you say to others may not come out the way you want. Pay attention to your communication in close personal and business relationships. Remember what mom used to say: “Think before you speak.”
Taurus: Your intuitive side is calling, and it’s time to listen to its guidance. This is especially important in light of the Full Moon energy shining through the twelfth house where some of your deepest fears and insecurities lurk. Trust that little voice inside to help heal and let go of those shadows within you. Practice listening every day, and if you still struggle to hear it, pull a Tarot or Oracle card for clarity. You’ll get the answers, Taurus. Don’t worry.
Gemini: You are in your element this Full Moon, as buzzing in communities and groups beckons you. The moon lights up reality for you, though, in the sense that you may determine that some of those groups are not as productive for you as they once were. Keep a lid on snarky comments and passive aggressive behaviors, and instead, release what’s not working for you. Light a candle during the full moon, quiet your mind and ask for divine support to let go of those groups or individuals that hold you back.
Cancer: Your public persona is spotlighted with this full moon, moving you toward taking a stronger position instead of lying low. You’re not always one to speak your needs, Cancer, but you’re being called to be assertive and to not crawl back into your shell. This is the time to heal those lingering self-doubts and find the strength to lead. Practice a positive affirmation: “I am a strong, secure and powerful leader.” Because you are!
Leo: This Harvest Moon asks you to stand as a leader with tact and finesse. This isn’t the time to roar when things don’t go your way. Instead, it’s the time to listen to others and work with them to solve problems collaboratively. That doesn’t mean that you don’t say what’s important, Leo. You just do so with a firm and positive approach. You may also be moved to learn something new. Go with it. And, if you feel unbalanced this Full Moon, and you might, take time to sit by a fire and feel its energy in you.
Virgo: This Full Moon triggers your feelings in intimate relationships, honesty and finances. First and foremost, watch the tendency to overreact. It’s okay if you choose to temporarily pull back from others to think, heal and connect with Spirit. Just make sure you’re true to yourself and honest with them. Additionally, look for the culmination of greater healing—all that work you’ve been doing is transforming you and perhaps even your finances. Just close the doors that need closing, Virgo. Then, make sure to take time to just sit in the power of Spirit to learn more and express gratitude. You need it.
Libra: This Aries moon energy is firing up relationships for you and wants you to speak your truth. It’s not the time to avoid conflict or get stuck in a decision-making loop. You can say what you want to say with your typical diplomacy—just make sure it’s solid and assertive. Personal and professional partnerships are spotlighted, and you may find that you want to let go of some of them. Avoid equivocating and release them, and as you do, watch your sense of balance return. Take time for deep breathing, and as you exhale, visualize releasing any negativity.
Scorpio: Listen to that intuitive voice telling you to focus on your well-being. The Aries moon is making it louder and is also moving you to be more disciplined in your work. You may wrap up a project sooner than expected. But balance is key for you, Scorpio, to skirt burnout, because you approach life with unmatched intensity. Also, your emotions may run high over the next few days. Give yourself the gift of going inward to connect with the emotion and understand its origin. Then, take yourself outside to a dark place filled with starlight and just gaze at the heavens. You’ll feel the Earth, Water, Air and Fire balance in you.
Sagittarius: Your mind is running a mile a minute, Sag, so step back and breathe. Allow fertile space for the creative ideas so they germinate, and finish up any creative endeavors that you’re ready to move on from. Then, allow extra space for that passion bursting inside you to come out romantically. If you’ve got a special someone, this Full Moon is the perfect time to order in a romantic dinner and enjoy some intimate time. If you’re single, let this Full Moon burn through the self-consciousness and go out and do something fun and creative just for grins. You never know who you might meet while truly being yourself.
Capricorn: This Full Moon beams down on home and family, Capricorn, with lots of emotions percolating. It’s time for your surefooted nature to draw clear but respectful boundaries and to up the gratitude for those in your family. They’re not perfect, but they are your family. Soften your leadership style and bring the fam together for game night or something else fun that allows for bonding. The Aries fire around this Harvest Moon may also have you looking for a new home, a place that truly feeds your spirit and gives you the space to plan and maneuver.
Aquarius: The Aries moon has your brilliant brain firing on all synapses right now and is supercharging your communication. But if ever there were a time to practice good listening skills and less talking, this is it. We know you have fabulous ideas, Aquarius, but right now conversations can spark oversharing or heightened emotional responses that challenge your patience. However, one of the plusses for you, Aquarius, is that while discussions may take discretion for the next few days, this is the ideal time to finish some writing or presentations you’ve been working on. Practice grounding with meditation and visualization, and then let the creative juices flow so you finish something you’re proud of.
Pisces: The fire from this Aries moon burns through the clouds and mist bringing clarity to you about your finances. You’re being pulled to wrap up a job or move investments that aren’t working for you any more and find better options. This is also the time to get real about what’s important to you in life. If it’s not in alignment, it’s time to let it go, or at least begin the process of closing it out. It’s time to be real about who you are and what you value. And, first and foremost, it’s important to value yourself, Pisces. Time to meditate and open those sacral and solar plexus chakras to ignite your self-worth and confidence.
As you can tell, this Full Moon is packed with power and emotion. It’s moving you to take time to release what needs to go and to celebrate what’s completed.
