November’s Cosmic Exhale--We need it!

Whew! Finally, after two months of cosmic commotion, let the gratitude kick in, as we welcome a less chaotic November with both an internal and external focus. There are a number of retrogrades that inspire reassessing and resetting, including Mercury retrograde, but after sixty days with no time to pause, it’s a welcome shift.

With the sun snug in its Scorpio cave, culling through your present emotional treasures as well as the emotional relics of your past, there’s a pull to integrate all this feeling knowledge and learn from it. Take advantage of applying that secret knowledge before November 9, when our favorite speed demon planet, Mercury, skates backward in its last retrograde cycle of the year. (Can I get a “Hallelujah?”)

The Full Moon on November 5 ignites some fire in the sky as another supermoon, known as the Beaver Moon, lights our way. As with all full moons, it’s time to reflect on what’s been accomplished and to begin thinking about what’s next. Basking in the sign of Taurus, this full moon nudges contemplation on security, whether it’s material or personal, a theme that carries over into Mercury and Uranus retrogrades.

And, speaking of Mercury retrograde, this go-around is both an outward and inward journey. The sign of Sagittarius plays host to the first half of the retrograde cycle, and of course, it brings along all the challenges we typically expect from Mercury retrograde (communication gaffes, technological snafus, travel trip-ups, and commerce complications, etc.). However, it also invites us to expand and ponder the big questions, to research travel to distant countries—or maybe even planets—to learn, and to re-evaluate our freedom and what’s really important to us in the world. Later in the cycle, as Mercury moves back into the sign of Scorpio, we’re beckoned to travel inward and to indulge in a deep, personal exploration of the soul.

Of course, just before Mercury officially spins in reverse, there’s another powerful and provocative retrograde: Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Uranus is the planet of innovation, freedom, and outright rebellion. It can shake things up, and this time, it’s shaking the foundation and emphasizing some of the same ideas as Mercury retrograde: Time to reassess finances, the definition of personal freedom, and security in addition to the technological processes and systems that support finances and security. But, instead of sounding the internal alarm bells, look at it as another invite to delve into those key areas and shore them up in softer, less stressful ways.

November 11 is both Veteran’s Day and the day Jupiter stations retrograde in Cancer. Being the planet of expansion and opportunity, when Jupiter decides to retrace its steps, it’s asking us to do the same. Instead of opportunities streaming from the outside, they unfold from within, allowing us to recalibrate and assess priorities in a quieter space.

On the twentieth, a New Moon in Scorpio calls us to chill and connect with our intuition instead of our iPhones. Grag a glass of wine, relax in a snuggly blanket, and feel the flow from within. New ideas and future plans abound, but in a calmer, gentler way. The New Moon offers a pause from all the percolating energies, and instead, lets creative and intuitive approaches delicately take root. Transformation occurs gingerly and at a deep and deliberate level.

On the twenty-first, the sun creeps out of his comfy Scorpio corner and opens into the adventure and brilliance that is Sagittarius. As we move into Sagittarius season, all the fun and joy of the holiday season is on display. Breathe in the wonder of the world and feel the current of energy flowing strongly within. It’s time for big ideas and a little magic.

The month wraps up with two planets moving out of retrograde cycles and spinning direct again: Saturn and Mercury. Saturn went retrograde back in July, and finally goes direct in Pisces again. If you’ve felt a lack of discipline or structure in your own life (or in the world), know that Saturn will help turn this around as well as give you the plan for grabbing any of those wonderful ideas that Pisces has floating in the ethers and turning them into reality.

Finally, on the twenty-ninth, Mercury stations direct, and we bid farewell to Mercury retrograde in 2025. What should you do? Simple. Breathe. Smile. Celebrate.

November brings a welcome shift! There are still a few challenges—Mercury Retrograde among them—but the overall energy is far calmer than what we’ve just come through. Think of it as cosmic decompression: a month where mind and body get to catch up, ground, recalibrate, and finally lean into that holiday spirit. And, through it all, be grateful and enjoy!
